In short: this website does not track you, and the tools I run only act on accounts I own or manage. I don't sell, rent or share personal information, and I don't use it for advertising.
This policy explains how rahulrao.in and the personal software tools and automations operated by Rahul Rao (“I”, “me”) handle information. It covers this website and any application I have registered with third-party platforms that links to this page.
1. This website
- There are no advertising, analytics or tracking scripts on this site.
- Signing in to private pages. Some pages on rahulrao.in and its subdomains (for example “More about me”, older projects and the lab site) ask you to sign in with Google. Google then shares your name, email address and profile picture with me. I log that email address with the page you opened and the time, so I can see who has viewed these pages. I don't use it for marketing, and I don't share it with anyone. These sign-in logs are kept for up to 12 months. You can ask me to delete yours at the email address below.
- Your light/dark theme choice is saved in your own browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
- Fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which receives your IP address as part of delivering them, under Google’s own privacy policy.
- The web server may keep standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, page requested and time) for security and troubleshooting. These are not used to identify or profile visitors.
2. My tools and connected accounts
I build and run small automation tools that connect, through official APIs, to accounts I own or manage on platforms such as Google (including YouTube), Facebook and Instagram. They are used to publish and manage my own content, for example uploading my own videos and checking whether an upload succeeded.
- Whose data: only the accounts I have connected myself. These tools are not offered to the public and do not collect information about other people.
- What is accessed: only what an action needs, such as channel and page details, upload status, and the titles and descriptions of my own posts.
- Access tokens: the sign-in tokens these platforms issue are stored encrypted on a server I control, and are used only to carry out the actions I have set up.
- No sale or sharing: information obtained through these APIs is never sold, shared with third parties, or used for advertising.
3. Google API Services
Use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Google user data is used only to provide the features described above. It is not transferred to others, used for advertising, read by humans except where needed for security or to fix a problem, or used to train generalised AI or machine-learning models.
You can remove an app’s access to a Google account at any time from myaccount.google.com/permissions. For Meta platforms, use the “Apps and websites” settings in Facebook or Instagram.
4. If you email me
If you contact me, I use your email address and message only to reply to you. I keep that correspondence only for as long as it is useful for the conversation.
5. Retention and deletion
Server logs are kept only for as long as they are useful for security and troubleshooting. Tokens for connected accounts are deleted when I disconnect an account or stop using a tool. You can ask me to delete any information you have sent me by emailing the address below.
6. Children
This website and my tools are not directed at children, and I do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
7. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted on this page with a new “Last updated” date.
